British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
