Homages Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt able to express about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can at last articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced passing more hours together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, remarking that he cannot recall "one day without joy".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles judge agreed to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate placed a restriction on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a record listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Response and Criticism
In the wake of the deaths, public personalities offered divergent reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making controversial statements that were widely condemned by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the critics last week. Conversing on his program, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disturbing" and implied they revealed a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an associate could have acted when the choice to speak on the death was made.
