The original stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will return for the latest Hunger Games series instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that beloved stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
A Major Reunion for Fans
The duo are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Speculation suggests their roles will take the form of a future-set scene, given that the original saga concluded with their characters living in peace.
This signifies the sixth installment in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed most of the previous films in the series.
The Storyline and Fresh Faces
The film's events are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several accomplished actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the menacing President Snow.
